It is strongly recommended that ALL homebuyers have an indoor radon test performed prior to purchasing or taking occupancy of a new home, even if the home already has a radon mitigation system in place.
If levels are above 4.0 pCi/L, mitigation of the home is recommended. It is not in the best interest of the buyer or seller to rely on a radon measurement performed by anyone other than a licensed measurement professional or technician. In fact, some states, such as Illinois, require that radon testing during a real estate transaction be conducted by a licensed professional. Elevated radon concentrations can easily be reduced by a qualified, licensed radon mitigator.
If you are considering selling your home and have not had a radon test previously performed, it is highly recommended to test prior to listing the home. Home buyers are electing to test for radon more often than ever before, so testing prior to obtaining a contract on your home may eliminate any unexpected expenses or delays.
The radon test is a minimum of 48 hours in length, so it is recommended to call as soon as a contract is signed. We will coordinate with the homeowner or agent to schedule the test as soon as possible.
You will receive a report the same day the devices are retrieved, and we are available to answer any questions you may have.
